Our Values

Our Vision and Mission Are Clear

This includes encouraging faithful religious duties, building desirable character, training in citizenship, and developing personal fitness. The organization's mission also encompasses teaching youth to be prepared for life, providing a safe environment for learning life skills, fostering growth and leadership, and providing educational experiences.
Our Vision

Scouting America will prepare every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and Law.

Our Mission

The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Diversity & Belonging Policy

The Hoosier Trails Council, Scouting America promotes a culture where each youth, volunteer, and employee feels a sense of belonging and builds communities where every person is respected and valued.

We lead by example and encourage each other to live by the values expressed by the Scout Oath and Scout Law.  We welcome members and employees of all backgrounds to help prepare young people to serve as successful members and leaders of our nation’s increasingly diverse communities.

How To Start A Unit Near You

If a unit is not close, there is an opportunity to start a unit in your area. Contact us for help or questions.

01
Find A Potential Charter Organization:

Consider local community organizations like churches, civic groups (Rotary, Kiwanis, etc.), schools, or service clubs.

02
Discussing the Partnership:

Meet with the leaders of the potential chartering organization. Clearly share the advantages of partnering with Scouting, including how it fits their mission and benefits their youth members.

03
Formalizing the Partnership:

When the organization decides to become a chartered organization, they will enter into an annual charter agreement with the local council. This agreement details the roles of both the chartered organization and the Scouting unit. The local council will assist throughout the process by providing the needed forms and information.
